Ninh Binh has always been named among the country's top 15 attractive destinations and 10 provinces with the highest numbers of visitors. It has also been highly recommended by international magazines and journals.
It was selected by US magazine Forbes as one of the 23 best places to travel around the world in 2023, and among the top 10 welcoming destinations in the world by the Traveller Review Awards.
In 2024, Ninh Binh ranks 4th in the top 10 less-visited wonders of the world, according to the United Kingdom's Daily Mail.
Ninh Binh has welcomed an increasing number of tourist arrivals over the years. Various tourism products have been launched and put into operation. The province's brand has been asserted on the world tourism map.
In the January - September period, Ninh Binh welcomed nearly 7.3 million tourists, representing a year-on-year increase of 32.03%, and making 97.28% of the yearly plan. Of those, approximately 6.4 million were domestic travellers and over 900,000 foreign visitors.
Revenue from tourism activities in the period was estimated to reach over 7.25 trillion VND, making a year-on-year rise of 42.96% and 87.89% of the yearly plan.
Bui Van Manh, Director of the provincial Department of Tourism, said that, in order to develop tourism sustainably and effectively linked with heritage preservation and promotion, Ninh Binh has issued numerous policies and special mechanisms on developing culture and people of Ninh Binh, as well as resolutions on tourism development in combination with heritage preservation and promotion. These are important orientations to mobilise the entire political system and local community in developing tourism and protecting heritages.
In addition, the provincial authorities have enhanced the role and position of the local community in managing, exploiting and promoting the heritage values, thereby improving the quality of tourism products and creating momentum for local economic growth.
The local community has been considered as the center and become a vital factor in preservation and sustainable development. Local people have benefited from tourism activities and taken part in managing and protecting heritages.
The provincial People's Council issued Resolution No. 105 defining specific policies on developing tourism, including support for local people who live in the heritage area to preserve their traditional houses, build houses with old design or build homestay facilities.
In particular, Ninh Binh has given priority to developing tourism products that highlightthe culture and outstanding features of Hoa Lu ancient capital and Trang An world heritage.
At the same time, the province has enhanced private-public partnership and international cooperation in tourism development.
In order to reap more achievements, Ninh Binh's tourism sector will focus on promoting and advertising its tourism brand linked with cultural and heritage values; build and carry out a strategy on tourism promotion in the long term and in a professional and effective manner, Mạnh said.
