Ninh Binh: Tourism spurs growth of trade and services
Thanks to the improved quality of tourism services, new tourism products and tour routes, Ninh Binh province's tourism has met the increasing demand of visitors. Therefore, more and more travellers have visited local destinations, making great contributions to revenues of the accommodation, restaurant and travel sectors.
Ninh Binh: Tourism spurs growth of trade and services

Foods and beverages are among commodities having high growth.

According to the provincial Statistics Office, in the first half of 2024, the province's GRDP was estimated to reach nearly 26.84 trillion VND (1.11 billion USD), a year-on-year increase of 8.19%, ranking 12th out of 63 provinces and centrally-run cities nationwide and 6th out 11 provinces and centrally-run cities in the Red River Delta.

Ninh Binh earns nearly 6 trillion VND from tourism 

In the first six months of 2024, tourism activities in Ninh Binh continued to enjoy high growth.

In the reviewed period, the province served over 6.28 million visitors, posting a rise of 38.5% from the same period of last year and making up 83.8% of the yearly plan.

Of the total, 5.58 million were domestic travellers and 700,800 were international tourists, representing a year-on-year increase of 29.3% and 3.2-fold rise, respectively.

The number of tourists staying overnight reached more than 1.18 million, up 79.4% against the same period of the previous year. 

Total revenue from tourism activities hit nearly 5.94 trillion VND, up 54.2% as compared to the same period last year, and making up 72% of the yearly plan. Of the total, revenue from accommodation establishments was 446.1 billion VND, and restaurants was 2.94 trillion VND, up 39.5% and 49.2%, respectively.

Trade and service activities continued to see strong performance and maintain a high growth rate, especially accommodation, restaurant and travel services.

Total retail sales reached nearly 39.5 trillion VND, a year-on-year increase of 26.3%.

Most groups of commodities enjoyed high growth, such as foods with 14.91 trillion VND (up 31.7%) and garments with over 2 trillion VND.

Revenues from accommodation and restaurant services rose by 29.8% to 4.62 trillion VND, while revenues from travel services reached 57.9 billion VND, a 2.8 fold rise and other services hit over 3 trillion VND, up 12.8%.

Import-export enjoy high growth 

In the January-June period, the province's index of industrial production rose by11.6% compared to the same period last year. Of which, the mining industry increased by 18.05%; the processing industry up 10.48%; electricity production and distribution up 47.73%; and water supply, sewage and waste water treatment up 4.72%.

The total amount of disbursed investment in the reviewed period was estimated to reach nearly 15.3 trillion VND, representing a year-on-year rise of 2.6%. Of which, state budget capital was over 3.09 trillion VND (up 10.5%); non-state capital was more than 11.14 trillion VND (down 3.3%); and foreign direct investment (FDI) capital reached 1.05 trillion VND, up 80.5%.

The province's export-import activities still kept keep their growth momentum.

In the first half of 2024, the province earned nearly 1.7 billion USD from exports, a year-on-year rise of 1.8%, and accounting for 52.1% of the yearly plan.

Some key foreign currency earners are cameras and components (398.5 million USD), footwear (456.4 million USD), cement and clinker (306.3 million USD), clothes (151.5 million USD); electronic components (69.3 million USD), and automobile spare parts (65.1 million USD).

While the province's import turnover reached 1.56 billion USD, posting an increase of 14.9% and making up 49% of the yearly plan.
