Currently, Ninh Binh is home to 76 craft villages. Many of them have their own brand names and products made from local materials, so they are featured with local cultural values.

The province now has 181 OCOP products. The OCOP programme has been carried out in all localities in the province and contributed to restructuring the economy, increasing incomes and stabilising the livelihoods for local residents. 

A part from renowned OCOP products such as Van Lam embroidery products, fried rice and Bo Bat ceramics, numerous OCOP products that bear distinctive features of each locality have been developed, namely shrimp sauce  of Gia Vien district; loaches cooked in earthenware pots and fermented pork of Yen Mo district; melons of Kim Son; Cuc Phuong camellia tea in Nho Quan district, and Anabas testudineus and lotus products of Hoa Lu district. These OCOP products have yielded high economic values.

As local cooperatives, firms and business households have been aware of  benefits of the OCOP programme, more and more local products join the programme.

They have also paid more attention to improving the quality, packaging and design of OCOP products, meeting the regulations of stamping, labeling and origin traceability.

In 2024, Ninh Binh is striving to have 30 more OCOP products classified as three-star or higher and have more potential five-star products which will be  recognised as national OCOP products.

In order to achieve the targets, collectives and business households need to improving the quality of OCOP products and developing diverse OCOP products in a bid to turn it into a sustainable programme that brings more benefits to participants and widely advertise the potential and strengths of localities.
