It is a key national project that plays an important role in creating momentum and space for the development of Ninh Binh and the region.
The project hasn't been kicked off, but it gained high support of the local party committee, administration and people.
Le Trong Thanh, Director of the provincial Department of Transport - the investor of the project, said the Ninh Binh-Hai Phong expressway's section aims to complete expressways under the Road Network Development Planning Project for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
The Ninh Binh-Hai Phong expressway's section project has a total length of 25.3 kilometers and runs through Yen Khanh and Yen Mo districts of Ninh Binh province.
It is designed to have four lanes with a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour.
The project has total investment capital of over 6.86 trillion VND (338 million USD). Of the sum, 2 trillion VND (86 million USD) comes from the central budget while the rest will be sourced from the provincial budget.
The project is scheduled to start construction in November 2024 and to be completed in 2029.
The project starts at an intersection of the North-South expressway in Mai Son commune of Yen Mo district and ends at the bridge crossing Day river in Khanh Cuong commune of Yen Khanh district.
The project is expected to help ease overload for Mai Son - Cao Bo expressway section running though Ninh Binh city and Mai Son - Tam Toa bridge section and connect traffic system in the eastern part of Ninh Binh and Nga Son district of Thanh Hoa province, National Highway 10, coastal road and the East-West road of Ninh Binh.
Pham Quang Ngoc, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, said the project plays an important role in creating a new momentum for the socio-economic development of Ninh Binh and other provinces in the Red River Delta.
Once completed, the project will connect to Bai Dinh - Kim Son road to form an East-West economic corridor in the northern part of Ninh Binh under the provincial master planning scheme for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, Ngoc added.
