Leaders of ministries, sectors and Ninh Binh province as well as a large number of local people and tourists attended the event.

In his opening remarks, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc said that the celebration of the 1,100th birthday of King Dinh Tien Hoang and the opening of the Hoa Lu Festival 2024 were an opportunity to educate patriotic tradition and good cultural values, and pay to the great contributions of King Dinh Tien Hoang and predecessors.

 The annual Hoa Lu festival is an outstanding cultural event of Ninh Binh, vividly reflecting the life and career of King Dinh Tien Hoang, who defeated 12 warlords, united the country and built the first central feudal state of Vietnam as well as Vietnam's history under the Dynasties of Dinh, Tien Le and Ly, he said.

At the ceremony, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Doan Minh Huan beat the drum to open the festival.

At the event, participants enjoyed a spectacular art programme themed "Mission of the imperial city" with the performance of famous singers and artists.

In addition, a drone light show with 1,000 drones highlighting the life and career of King Ding Tien Hoang in defeating the 12 warlords, united the country and established the State of Dai Co Viet.

 Right after the drone light show, a low-altitude firework display was set off.

The Hoa Lu Festival 2024 will last until April 19.
